Vanilla’s Training Log 8/31/14 to 9/6/14

I know…I’m late!  Here goes:

8/31:  Longest run since I can remember!  13.65 miles.  First 9 averaged 7:44, and then the last 4 were easy.  My legs definitely felt like it had been awhile!  1,650m swim in the evening.

9/1:  September already!!!  A little chilly in the morning, so I waited a few hours before heading out on my bike.  Some weights first and almost 40 miles.

9/2:  Easy day!  3 miles on the trails for a Newton photo shoot.  Took over 2 hours, but the views were worth it.  Saw a bear!

9/3:  Workout!!  Alternating 3 mins/5mins x4 with 90 seconds rest in between intervals.  Goal was to keep the 3 minutes under (hopeful) 5K pace, and the 5 minutes under (hopeful) half marathon pace.  This was definitely a mental workout, and the hardest interval was the final 5 minutes!  Ended up with 8.45 miles, total, in 1 hour.  Later that evening, I decided to break out of my comfort zone and join in a master’s swim class at my gym.  Got in 2,000m, and I wasn’t the slowest–definitely far from the fastest, though.  It was definitely worth going!  And free!  And taught by a former Ironman pro!  Why didn’t I go sooner????

9/4: Weights/core, then 11 miles on the computrainer, on hills.  My quads hurt!  Easy 3 miles in the evening @ 25:00.

9/5:  Core work then 4 miles with pickups.  Total time. 30:27.

9/6:  Weights, then super easy, no watch 3 mile shuffle.  Half ironman the next day!!

Running:  35.1 miles
