Vanilla’s Training Log 3-16-14

It’s been a couple of weeks since I’ve posted a training log.  It’s one of those things that has fallen through the cracks as training becomes more intense and work become a little more busy.  I’ve successfully logged 60+ miles for 4 consecutive weeks.  I’m getting excited for Boston!

Sunday:  21 miler all on pavement except for 2 miles.  It was beautiful weather, and I felt great until mile 14.  From that point, I just felt off and plodded until I got home.  During marathon training, I always have a long run that feels awful and messes with my mental toughness.  Hopefully, I got it out of my system.

Monday:  The time change really got to me, and I had no desire to get out of bed in the morning!  It was a beautiful day to bike to work!  I love biking to work and try to when I can.  Over lunch, I managed an easy jog to the rec center to lift.

Tuesday:  Still could not get up early in the morning!  7.5 miles in the evening consisting of 3×3 mins, 4×1 min, 2×5 mins.  Felt good to get in a workout after feeling sluggish.

Wednesday:  10.5 easy miles.  Easy swim with some lifting in the evening.

Thursday:  Ugh!  Could not get up again!  8.5 miles running back/forth to work.

Friday:  9.50 miles including a workout of 2 mins/4mins/2mins/4mins twice.  Weights and core later in the day.

Saturday:  75 minutes on the trainer; 7.5 miles in the afternoon.

Weekly Totals:

Running:  67.3 miles!

Biking:  10 miles + 75 minutes

Swimming:  1,850 yards

Weights:  >2 hours
