Vanilla”s Training Log 12-30-12

Happy holidays everyone!  I hope that you all had a wonderful and relaxing holiday season, and I hope that you spent some time with family, friends and doing what makes you happy.  Many of us had some bad weather to deal with this week, but still, I’m sure we all got out there as best as we could.   This was a great week for me to enjoy some wonderful scenery and enjoy time with my friends and family.

Boulder’s white Christmas! Running with this kind of scenery reminded me that there is so much beauty in the world that does prevail over the tragedy and sadness that we’ve seen lately. It was very peaceful!

Sunday: 10.5 miles around Boulder.

Monday: Weights/core and swim of 2,000 yds.

Tuesday: Beautiful Christmas morning run of about 8 miles.  Stopped several times to take pictures of the scenery! It was only 9 degrees, but the snow and mountains were just beautiful!  Did some weights and core before a wonderful Christmas feast with friends.

Wednesday:  2 hours on the bike trainer…very cold and icy outside.

Thursday: Easy 8 miles towards the mountains.

Friday:  Easy 5.75 in the morning (it was only 8 when I left the house), followed by weights and 2.25 miles on the treadmill in the evening.

Saturday: TRACK!  Three sets of 5*300 with a circuit exercise like planks, lunges after each 300.  It was 10 degrees outside, and someone graciously shoveled lane 1 so we could all get it done!  Weights and core in the evening.

Weekly Totals:

Running: 41.4 miles

Biking: 2 hours (bike trainer)

Swimming:  2,000 yds

Weight Training: 2 hrs; 20 mins

10 degrees; moonlight and sunlight; mountain view and Lane 1 was all clear. Coach Jay is waiting for us to join him on the track!
