Vanilla’s Training Log 10-28-12

The highlight of my week was returning home and racing the Columbus Half Marathon.  Boulder saw its first accumulated snow this fall, and it was beautiful…cold, but beautiful!

Sunday:  Columbus Half Marathon plus additional mileage to help pace a friend running the marathon.  Overall finish was 1:32:57, and then I added another seven miles to total 20 for the day.

Pacing my friend during her latter marathon miles

Monday:  Rest day.  Lots of mileage plus a late night plus traveling equaled a nice rest day.

Tuesday:  Bike about 27  miles mostly into a headwind.  Tailwind got me to 42mph without pedaling.  An easy 3.5 mile run at the weekly Lululemon group run, average of 9:05/mile.

Wednesday:  8.2 miles with a great group before the snow started.  Great conversation and race discussion, averaging 8:06/mile.  Some core work and lifting in the afternoon.

Thursday:  Circuit class for 45 mins. which included sprint sessions and boxing.  Spent the rest of the day resting since I wasn’t feeling too well.

Friday:  A very chilly and icy four miles in just under 32 minutes.  A lot of slipping and sliding!  Some weights and core in the afternoon

Saturday:  Crisp and chilly, but beautiful.  Four miles in 30:17, progression run starting at 8:21 and ending at 6:43.  Spent hours hiking in the mountains and enjoying the beautiful views!

I didn’t run up this mountain, but the climb was enough to get my heart pumping like an 800 interval. What a view!

Weekly Totals:

Running:  40.8 miles

Biking:  27 miles

Weight Training:  2 hours; 30 mins.
