This was a solid training week. I am lucky enough to have this week off work every year, so I had lots of time to run and flexibility on when I got it done!
Monday – Rainy but good run! 5 miles at 8:53 pace, with 6 strides tacked onto the end. After a couple of blah runs in a row at the end of the previous week, this was just what I needed. Plus it was nice to get in a good workout before the Christmas Eve feasting.
Tuesday – Since our big family gathering was Monday and our Christmas plans were decidedly more low-key, I met up with some friends for a run… festive socks included! I did a total of 7 miles with the middle 3 at tempo.
Wednesday – 1 hour yoga
Thursday – One of the benefits of having the week between Christmas and New Year’s off work is flexibility on runs! I ran around 11:30 a.m. Hilly intervals, with total mileage for the day at 4.56.
Friday – 3.1 miles at 9:34 pace.
Saturday – I could do a whole post just on this run. My friend A dubbed it “a memory maker”, and that’s about right. It had snowed about 3 inches the night before, and we trudged through both snow and slush. The first 3 miles were the worst in terms of getting soaked (well, and pace and everything, really!) so we stopped by the local running store and I was able to buy dry socks on credit. Yeah. Think about that for a moment. Oh, and I so very sadly realized with one mile left to go that I had a pair of shoes in my car I was going to donate… in other words, dry shoes! I wasn’t sure whether to laugh or cry. Definitely a memorable 14 miles. (10:51 pace)
Sunday – Rest
Total – 33.7 miles, 1 hour yoga
