Salty’s Training Log – 6.3.12

Helloooooo second trimester. This pregnancy is flying by. That’s at once exciting and terrifying. I’m going to have 3 children in less than 6 months. WHOA! But I’m excited to meet Boo-Boo (kids’ nickname for the baby) and find out whether the boys or girls will reign in our home and to see whether we somehow manage to make another redhead and stuff like that too. I also need to start having a little more energy so I can get this house in order. The thought of having a baby in this house in it’s current state is horrifying! I’m drinking a little coffee again so there’s hope ๐Ÿ™‚

On the running front, things are going pretty well. I felt good early in the week, but we all came down with a summer cold mid-week and that put a small damper on my hopes of getting in 40 or more miles this week. But I came pretty close with a little over 36 in 5 days. Can’t complain!

I had 4 runs with friends. I ran with the fabulous Jen B. and hubby on Monday who happened to be in town for the holiday. Super way to kick off the week! I took Tuesday off after running quite a relative bit over the holiday weekend. Wednesday my racing team was asked to model the latest Nike Running styles at our sponsor’s store so I did a quick 6 by myself before the big show. They actually found something to fit my belly. Woohoo!

We runners clean up pretty well!

On Thursday the kids and I felt pretty poopy and it was a little chilly. I’m not sure why I decided to take the kids to the beach for the first time, but I did. And it was awesome! It was sunny so laying on the sand in a sweatshirt felt heavenly. The kids had a blast playing in the sand and there were no crowds and no desire to swim complicating the experience. I cannot wait to take them back!

Loving the beach despite my son's disappointment that there were no crabs on the shores of Lake Erie.

Then on Friday I had a stroller date with my friend Bridget, on Saturday a date with my new friend Joanne and then Sunday I got together with my teammate and awesome bud Nicole. Pretty awesome week!
