Salty’s Training Log – 11.25.12

39 weeks! Almost there, but no, no baby yet. As I did with my first two pregnancies, I’ve had my fair share of false alarms courtesy of false labor. I figured this would happen again and I’ve done my best to remain skeptical that I was in real labor and I’m doing my best to remain patient.

As for running, I did my last bit of running on Tuesday and now I’m done. I jumped on the treadmill yesterday and was having trouble walking at 3.8 mph, so I didn’t even try to run. The baby is very low and it hurts my back just to walk at a modest pace! Plus, I am really tired. It really feels like my body is in preserve energy mode. So, I’m looking at this last week or so as my taper for birth. I’ll walk when I feel like it, but otherwise rest and relaxation  are in order to be ready for the real workout!

38w6d. My last bit of running this pregnancy.

Mon: 5 miles with walk/run intervals in a little over an hour.

Tue: 5 miles with walk/run intervals in 1:03

Wed: off. OB appointment, groceries, holiday prep.

Thu: 3 mile family walk enjoying the 60 degree sunny Thanksgiving! (~6 hours of false labor contractions at night)

Fri: rest. rest. rest. The big day is coming and I want to ensure I’m rested and ready!

Sat: 2.5 mile walk on the treadmill in about 40:00. (~8 hours of false labor in the evening and overnight)

Sun: off (might do a short walk later, but that’s it if anything)

Salty Running boss and mother of 3 little ones with PRs of 3:10:15 (26.2), 1:25:59 (13.1) and 18:15 (5k). I love to write about running culture, mental training, and fitting in a serious running habit with the rest of a busy life.
