Raspberry’s Training Log – 7.31.16

It was a good week: running, fancy photo editing, beer-making… oh, and Pokemon & HBO Now.

This was my last full week at home before going back to work, and I certainly enjoyed it for all it was worth. After spending a week in Tahoe, I had a strong running week – I think due to being back at sea level.  I also became slightly obsessed with Pokemon Go and Game of Thrones (late to the party, just subscribed to HBO Now). It was a week of indulgence at its finest! Tomorrow, I’m off to the mountains for a final backpacking trip, and the week after that, it’s back to work. This was my strongest summer of running to date, so I’m looking forward to, and am slightly anxious about, settling my running into my normal work routine.

Tuesday – 6 miles steady on the track. I wasn’t supposed to do a track workout, but was there supporting my running group in near 100 degree weather.

Wednesday – Speedwork on the treadmill (to avoid the heat): 15 min warm-up, 6 x 5 minute repeats at 10K pace with 1 minute recovery between each, 20 minute cool down. 8 miles total.

Thursday – 10 miles easy

Friday – rest from running/yoga

Saturday – 20 miles hilly long run

Sunday – 10 miles trails

Total: 54 miles Elevation: 2,958 ft.

A teacher in the San Francisco Bay Area who loves trail running, backpacking and cycling. Having grown up in the Sierra Nevada foothills, I secretly aspire to run Western States 100 someday. Realizing it might not be as crazy as it sounds (maybe it is), I am currently training for my next ultra.
