Pumpkin’s Training Log 11.8.15

Pumpkin here!  This past week was one in which I was SUPER grateful that I’m not actually IN training right now for a specific race.  Sometimes fun and frivolity have to trump the almighty run, so this week was a bit light on the run-front.  In spite of the busyness of the week, I managed to get at least a little activity in most days.

Monday 11.2

Spinning class 47 minutes, 20 miles, avg HR around 145

Tuesday 11.3

A quick hill workout on the parking ramp today.

3.38 miles, 10:13 pace

Wednesday 11.4

My friend Julie and I decided to meet for our run at 4:30am.  This required me to set my alarm for 3:55am.  That should NOT be a thing.

5.1 miles, 10:00 pace

Thursday 11.5

Elliptical while catching up on TV

53 minutes, 5.27 miles

Friday 11.6

Rest day

Saturday 11.7

It ended up being colder than I thought it was going to be this morning.  My running partner and I were feeling less than thrilled about digging out warmer clothes for our 6am run, so we ended up on the treadmills at the Y instead of an outdoor run.  Sad discovery that my iPad was dead upon getting on the ‘mill.  Noooo!

4.14 miles, 9:17 pace

Sunday 11.8

Out of town with the hubby to celebrate our 10th anniversary.  I had planned on doing a run this morning as our hotel was RIGHT across the street from a beautiful river path in St Paul, MN.  Somehow hotels have a way of making you just want to lounge around and sleep in, though.  It felt amazing to relax, but I have to say I was kind of kicking myself all morning that I didn’t take advantage of the different scenery.  I later learned that there was even a 5k/10k race literally BLOCKS from my hotel, and one of my oldest friends was even running it!  Like I said though, this week was more about fun and less about running.  The husband and I enjoyed the beautiful fall morning with a walk to a great breakfast place and strolled by the river.  We finished the day of celebration with a Minnesota Vikings game.  Vikings won, in case you care.  Football is one of the best things of my life.

weather THIS nice in November is a rarity!

watching football with my hubby is actually 100 times better than any run

I'm a college mental health counselor, runner, cyclist, wife, and mom to two strong-willed children. I started running in 2011 after the birth of my last child after years of love-hate relationships with fitness. My favorite distance is the half marathon, but I love the challenge of tackling the marathon. My biggest challenge is the mental aspect of racing, but my greatest strength is I'm stubborn and never give up! I'm a free spirit, an open book, and try to be authentic both in real life as well as in my internet life. Running has given me a place to face my fears, chase goals, and stay humble. Side note: I love cats and coffee and tacos.
