Pumpkin’s Fargo Half Marathon Training Log: Week 10

I’m about to BLOW your minds with the fastest training log you’ve ever read.

Last week: I didn’t run. It was my first zero mile week since the beginning of August.

I mean, I could probably just leave it at that, but that’s not how I roll. Last week I talked about some IT band tightness that popped up at the end of my last long run. I went to my sports chiro and the pain in my ITB was actually as a result of glute tightness and SI Joint inflammation. Luckily, this shouldn’t be a really long term injury. I went to the chiro twice last week and again this morning, and I’m feeling lots better. I can walk without pain, but yesterday I attempted to run in front of my house, just to test that and there is definitely still some pain when I try and do that. It has now been 9 days since my last run and I’m reeeeeeally itching to get back out there!

I could recap the other things I did this past week, but it truly wasn’t much more than lots of stretching, light core work, and emotional snacking. Oh, I did go to an intense spin class at a new boutique spin studio and it felt great to sweat!

I have been using my extra free time to document all sorts of nonsense on Instagram. Instagram stories are my new obsession, and hopefully my stories will contain more running related content very very soon. You can find me on IG at teresademers if you are as addicted as I am!

Have a great week!

Some lunchtime hip stretching!

I'm a college mental health counselor, runner, cyclist, wife, and mom to two strong-willed children. I started running in 2011 after the birth of my last child after years of love-hate relationships with fitness. My favorite distance is the half marathon, but I love the challenge of tackling the marathon. My biggest challenge is the mental aspect of racing, but my greatest strength is I'm stubborn and never give up! I'm a free spirit, an open book, and try to be authentic both in real life as well as in my internet life. Running has given me a place to face my fears, chase goals, and stay humble. Side note: I love cats and coffee and tacos.
