Apologies for the no picture and the boring training log. The week was full of meetings, and stress over my neighbors getting a sub-woofer (Oh neighbor problems. . .I need to move to a cabin in the woods!). I cut down on mileage this week due to being 2-weeks out from my 50k (start of the taper), and also due to an unwise workout on Wednesday (see below for details).
Sunday (5/10): Took the day off of running, though I was remarkably not sore from my long run on Saturday. Bike: 6 miles
Monday (5/11): Took it easy on the normal Monday loop. Run: 5.5 miles
Tuesday (5/12): This is unrelated to running, but we had book club movie night and watched all 3:55:00 of The Two Towers. So. Long. (and SO INACCURATE!!) Run: 6.5 miles
Wednesday (5/13): WOW (work-out wednesday) was FAST running on the track. Something I’ve not done in quite some time. . .a ladder of 200-400-600-800-600-400-200, with 200 jog between intervals. . .and this is the bad part about running with friends for your workouts. This is maybe not an ideal “tune-up for a 50k” workout. But it was really fun. We cut down all of our times on the way back down the ladder and hit :35 for the last 200, which I felt good about, it’s been a while since I did anything faster than a stride : ) Run: 7+ miles (:36, :82, 2:08, 2:55, 2:06, :78, :35)
Thursday (5/14): Meetings. Meetings. Meetings. Bike: 18 miles, Run: 6.5 miles
Friday (5/15): Again with the meetings. And also, my hamstrings were still quite sore from the strange fast running. Hoping I didn’t do anything stupid with that workout. . . Run: 5 miles
Saturday (5/16): A getting-stuff-done day, wrapped up with mother’s day dinner with my mom at Tabor Tavern. Though I was technically running a the Rock-n-Roll Portland 10k the next morning, I wasn’t supposed to actually race it, so I felt totally okay about eating questionable pre-race food – burger/fries/ice cream.
Bike: 24 miles
Run: 30.5 miles
