Happy Almost New Year! I apologize for the three week mega-recap below, and the associated past three weeks which had no recap until now. I am pleased to say that as of Friday, (the evening of which I spent home alone: built a fire, got a glass of wine and a book and basked), life is back to a manageable number of activities.
I have organized the past three weeks by theme. One week of preparing for my winter half marathon, and then two weeks of letting myself off the hook to do whatever I felt inclined to do. I think this was the best part of racing so close to christmas. While it was a bit stressful at the time, (I don’t recommend playing a show scheduled to go past 11pm the night before a race), it took the pressure off training for the past two weeks, which were quite busy with Christmas themed activities.
Week of 12.7-12.12, Theme: Light Taper
Sunday (12/7): All day in Seattle for a show at Benaroya Hall, got back at 1:30am. . .
Monday (12/8): PTO! Run 7 miles.
Tuesday (12/9): Work Holiday Party #1. Run 5 miles.
Wednesday (12/10): Run 5 miles.
Thursday (12/11): Run 5.5 miles.
Friday (12/12): Work Holiday Party #2. Pre-Race PT appointment. Run 5.5 miles.
Saturday (12/13): Livewire Radio Show!
Run: 28 miles
Week of 12.14-12.20, Theme: Race and Recovery
Sunday (12/14): Holiday Half Marathon – Details Forthcoming! Run: 13.5 miles
Monday (12/15): Recovery Day
Tuesday (12/16): Recovery Day
Wednesday (12/17): Run: 5.5 miles
Thursday (12/18): Run: 4 miles
Friday (12/19): Run: 6 miles (and played a show at the Aladdin Theater)
Saturday (12/20): Celebratory first day of Christmas Break. No running.

Week of 12.21-12.27, Theme: Have Fun and Do Whatever I Want. . .
Sunday (12/21): Annual Caroling Run with my 14+ year friend, and 6+ year roommate Katy, Run: 5 miles (while singing), Bike: 11 miles on trainer
Monday (12/22): Run: 6 miles
Tuesday (12/23): Run: 6 miles
Wednesday (12/24): Family and Friends!
