Olive’s Boston Training Log-4.11.17

The last week of training is done and I’m finally into the taper! Hanson uses a pretty abbreviated taper (a week), which is fine with me given my general disdain for tapering. The work is done, and I’m over-the-top excited to get to Boston!

Monday- 8 easy, 7:30 pace (which is way too fast…my goal for the next training cycle is to slow down my easy runs!). Later I taught a strength class.

Tuesday-last treadmill speed day. 1.5 mile warmup, 6×1 mile at 7:20ish with .25 recovery, 1.25 cooldown for 10 miles total.

Wednesday-yoga class, and then 7 easy, 7:23 average. Later I taught a cycle class.

Thursday-1 warmup, 10 tempo (7:30ish), 1 cooldown. Thank goodness I’m done with those! Later I taught another cycle class.

Friday-6 easy treadmill, 8:20 pace. Later I taught a strength class and got a massage.

Saturday-8 easy, no watch, then taught 2 classes.

On Sunday my friends and husband threw me a surprise Boston send-off party! I’ve never had a surprise party and was totally shocked and thrilled.

I’m tapering this week, in addition to teaching a few classes, and will fly out Friday. I’m running with my best friend who is smack in the middle of ultra training, so we are planning on just getting to the finish with smiles on.

I am a stay at home mom and group fitness instructor from South Texas. I love reading, wine, and travel. I write about trends, injury prevention and maintenance, and satire. I am training to break 1:30 in the half marathon sometime soon, and for the 2017 Boston Marathon.

  1. Hooray! I got my Boston Marathon pedicure the other day (alternating blue and yellow toes, natch). Local weather forecasts aren’t making me very happy but it will be a great day regardless. Good luck!
