Mint’s Training Log – 10.14.12

Coming off the Chicago Marathon last Sunday, this week was all about recovery for me.

Monday through Thursday were all rest days.  I did arm weights on Tuesday and I went on a nice easy walk on Monday evening to make sure my legs didn’t tighten up too much after sitting behind my desk all day.  Other than that, it was all rest and recovery for me.  Monday and Tuesday I was crazy sore, but by Wednesday, I was starting to feel a bit more normal.

Friday I went on my first easy run with my son after work.  We are training for a 10k on Thanksgiving morning and we called this day 1 of training.  We ran for 25 minutes down the trail.  It was fun because we were goofing off and tossing around the football.  We ended up with 2.8 miles at 9:01 pace.  Everything felt great, but it was dark by the time we finished.  Fall has definitely fallen here.

Saturday was another rest day.  My right calf felt really tight though so I stretched it out a bit.

Sunday James and I logged another 25 minutes in the pouring rain.

Total: 50 minutes – 5.6 miles

I am not sure what is next on the docket.  I had been considering jumping in to a half marathon in early November if I felt recovered, but I discovered this morning it is sold out.  So who knows what race will be up next for me.

Sadly, racing season is quickly coming to an end in Wisconsin.

Mindi is a serial marathoner. She is a private practice attorney, wife and mom of two awesome (and super fast) boys, ages 12 and 14. She coaches Girls on the Run and is a big advocate of youth running.
