Bad Day/Week

I can’t decide if I want to call this week the Worst Week Ever or the Stupidest Week Ever. Regardless, the end result is the same: a big fat goose egg for my mileage. On Monday, I went to the doctor and was diagnosed with (and treated for) a pilonidal cyst. (Whatever you do, don’t go to the Wikipedia page for that. The information is fine, but there are pictures. Lots of pictures. You don’t want that.) Between that and the flu shot I got at the end of last week, I spent several days feeling feverish, nauseous, and just generally Not Good. Even after I regained my will to live on Thursday, things were still not quite ready for running yet, not to mention the fact I was still exhausted from the whole ordeal.

Now that I’ve had a few days to relax and catch up on my rest, I’m feeling optimistic about next week. No major school assignments due, no major personal commitments on tap, and hopefully no weird traumas lurking around the corner. Knock on wood.

In a previous life, I worked on computers and spent all day sitting. Thanks to running, I've rebooted my career and am now a running and triathlon coach and soon-to-be physical therapist. I've also got the mind and spirit of an elite trapped in the body of a back-of-the-packer.
