Licorice’s Pregnancy & Training Log – Week 40

At the beginning of the week, I was less than pleased. My due date had come and gone and I was still hugely, uncomfortably pregnant. With, as far as I could tell, absolutely no sign of going into labor anytime soon. I decided that I was just going to try and take it one day at a time while mentally preparing myself for the possible week-plus wait to be induced. Still: I was ready to be done.

Thankfully, I didn’t have long to wait. I woke up early Tuesday morning with some pretty intense contractions, and by 4 a.m. they were regular enough that I wasn’t going back to sleep. The full story deserves its own post, but after about 30 hours of labor, Eleanor Rose made her entrance into the world on Wednesday morning.

We all came home on Friday and have slowly been figuring out what our new normal looks like as I recover from the birth. She’s already got Dad wrapped around her little (teeny tiny) finger, which is completely unsurprising. After all, how could you not love this face?
