This week I was finally able to do things like walk around the mall without feeling like I totally overdid it, which was pretty exciting. I’m still exhausted half of the time, but we’ve gotten into a routine where my husband does the midnightish feeding, which means I can usually get a solid chunk of sleep from about 10 or 11 pm until 3 or 4 am. Is it as much as I would like? Not quite. But after only getting 2 or 3 hours at a time, it feels like a lot.
I went out on a limb and hit up my old (i.e., pre-pregnancy) power yoga class on Saturday, and it actually went better than expected. I did spend some time in class taking rest breaks, but I knew that was going to happen. While it was clear that my upper body and core strength have certainly fallen by the wayside, it felt good to get out and do something. The trick now is going to be easing back into the “doing something” gradually. My plan for next week is to get out for a couple of walks, take a couple of rest days, and hit up that same yoga class next weekend. To me that sounds reasonable, but we’ll see how it goes.
