This week: I took Sunday off, which meant no true long run but I made up for it by biking with James on his long run. I wanted to be extra careful with my heel/ankle area and in the end, it was a great decision to give my legs a rest. At Tuesday’s time trial, I ended up running another 1600 meter PR and this one felt like a race! I ran 6:03 and then wrapped up the day with 3 x 800 in 3:10, 3:10, and 3:07. The rest of the week, I took it very easy and finally invested in the Strassburg Sock to treat the heel/ankle pain and it actually helped tremendously! I’ve toyed with generic brands that don’t compare. “The Sock” does what it claims to do!
Lastly, James received the keys to a house he recently purchased this week. It was quite exciting seeing as he has been playing the waiting game on the property all summer. The house was built in the 1940s by the original owners, who lived there until they passed away in 2011. It was a probate sale so much of the work needed up front is sorting through their stuff. We are making three piles: keep, sell, throw away. After that, we’ll get to the good, ol’ fashioned dirty work like carpet installation, painting, and knocking more things down. So far, the project excites us both!
