The past week was a busy one. I did turn a corner with my training but toward the end of the week, I struggled with motivation due to playing catch up with sleep. Outside of running, I gave seven presentations for work on top of wrapping up one of my last pet sitting adventures. Whew, I am tired just typing that. I don’t think I realized how much energy those activities took out of me until now. I did learn that I enjoy giving presentations though. Yet at the same time, the nerves leading up to going out on stage are very similar to running a race so I’m sure the drained feeling I had all weekend was likely due to coming off of multiple adrenaline highs.
Monday: 4 miles at 8:40 pace on the treadmill with upper body strength training and core work.
Tuesday: 3 x 1600 in 7:05, 7:04, and 6:55 on the indoor track. On Monday’s run, I felt different. I felt like the training of the last three weeks had finally unfolded, making way for a breakthrough track workout. This was it. I felt light and sharp, even after having an Asian buffet for lunch!
Wednesday: Off with ART work on the Achilles.
Thursday: 5 miles at 8:51 pace on the treadmill. Uneventful.
Friday: 2.1 miles at 10:00 pace. This was a quick and easy run with James around midnight. It was 12 degrees out. We just did laps around the block.
Saturday: 4.2 miles at 10:00 pace. This was also an easy paced run as we wanted to be careful with icy conditions.
Sunday: 13 mile long run at 8:45 pace on the treadmill. I actually enjoyed it. I think it’s because the pace is the same, it’s not cold, and it can be late at night but still light indoors. Also light lower body work after the run.
Total: 34.4 miles
