Coriander’s Training Log: 2.2.14

Sorry for disappearing for the past few weeks. I am so glad January is finally over. To be honest, the best thing about the past month is that it ended. It started with my nasty sinus infection that wouldn’t go away, then the weather here in CLE has been downright awful for the past three weeks.

I’m happy to say that I got ย a really good week of training in this past week. I had to switch some days around because of the 0 degree temperatures, but other than that, I did all of my workouts outside and I’m feeling back on track.

Monday: 5 miles/47 min. I switched Monday and Tuesday because Tuesday was supposed to be freezing! I did this run at a local park with my friend, Erin. She wanted to do more, but both of our faces were frozen and when we got close to the car around 5 miles, we called it quits.
Tuesday: Too cold! Rest/Pure Barre class.
Wednesday: am: Pure Barre class/pm: 6 miles/56 min. I also switched Wednesday and Thursday because of the cold. It was dark and 8 degrees out and 6 miles was perfect.
Thursday: 12 mile tempo. Middle 8 miles were at an 8:55 average. My pace varied during those miles because I was either on packed snowy sidewalks or clear streets depending on if I was on a main road or not. Either way, I was able to maintain the sub-9:00 pace even on the snow, which was good.
Friday: Rest.
Saturday: 20 miles/4:20. I ran trails with Erin. Well, mostly. We did the first 15 on the trail, one mile on the towpath and last four on the roads because we were kind of sick of the snow.
Sunday: 5.5 miles/67 min. I ran trails at North Chagrin and ran parts of the course for a 10K I’m running this weekend. The trails were a wet, sloppy mess! Fingers crossed it stays cold this week so that the trails aren’t so wet and gross.
Total:ย 48.5 miles.
