Coriander’s Training Log -10.28.12

What a week! This week was my first week trying to get back to a normal running routine and over the fear of further injuring my knee after I DNF’ed at my big fall race two weeks ago. Luckily, my knee is fine, only a few twinges here and there. But I couldn’t have picked a worse week! I work in retail and my new store is opening this Tuesday! So I’ve been working crazy long hours with little time for myself and putting this store together feels like an ultra itself. The hard work is totally worth it, I can’t wait to be open and I can get back to my regular self again!

Sunday: 75 minute “all levels” power vinyasa yoga. I was in Pittsburgh for the weekend, so I went to a class at Amazing Yoga in Shadyside. That class kicked my butt. I couldn’t lift my arms the next day.

Monday: rest

Tuesday: 5 miles. I decided to test out the knee on some trails at the Metroparks near my apartment. It was the most glorious run I’ve ever had at the park.

Wednesday: 5ish miles/14 miles biking. I spent the first part of Wednesday biking on the Towpath with some of my coworkers before we got back to work. That night was my running club’s annual Halloween prediction run. The route was almost 5 miles. I guessed I’d run it in 50 minutes because of my knee, but finished in 46 flat. Obviously I didn’t win the prediction run.

It was unseasonably warm to run in my sexy cop costume!

Thursday: crazy work day/rest

Friday: crazy work day. Ran 4 miles on my lunch hour. Everyone thought I was crazy and weird for running at lunch in the rain in shorts and a tshirt.

Saturday: extremely crazy work day/rest.

Total: 14 miles.

Trail and 100 mile ultra runner who still loves a good road marathon every now and then. Lifetime Northeast Ohio resident that dreams of the mountains out west, but loves CLE too much. Sometimes a vegan, sometimes does yoga, always loves a good craft beer and post race donuts.
