Cilantro’s Training Log – 12.29.2013 (Past Due)

Somehow I completely forgot to post my training log last week.  The last two weeks have been so filled with family and holiday fun that blogging sort of fell by the wayside.  But it’s been an amazing two weeks, and I wouldn’t trade them for anything.

Last week’s runs:

This was my easier week, so I didn’t do any interval training and kept the mileage pretty low, including a step back in mileage on my long run.

Sunday: Off (recovering from driving 20 hours)

Monday: 7 miles, outside!  Love that I can run outside since it’s a balmy 20 degrees in Utah!

Tuesday: 7 miles, outside again.  I even took our family dog with me, and learned the fun of running with a dog on a leash (read: it’ll take some getting used to)

Wednesday: 7 miles on the treadmill.  We have an inversion in Utah that leads to some crazy pollution.  It was particularly bad, so I took it inside.

Thursday: 14 miles, outside.  We had a snowstorm overnight which cleared things up for a beautiful run!

Friday: 4 miles, on the treadmill.  I had to fit these in quickly before my dad started work.  He works from home and the treadmill is next to his office.  It means all treadmill runs need to be complete before 9 am!

Saturday: Off

Weekly total: 39 miles

This week:

I took Sunday-Tuesday off, just because I was feeling lazy (read: no good reason).  Christmas morning, however, I couldn’t resist the lure of the outdoors and headed out for a lovely Christmas run!

Wednesday: 5 miles outside (glorious, clear, wonderful run)

Thursday: 12 miles, outside.  I recruited my brother and his girlfriend to drive me 12 miles in one direction and then ran home.  Kind of fun with a “well, I’ve gotta get home somehow, might as well run there” spice thrown in.

Friday: 18 miles, outside.  Rather unexpected mileage, but as I told my mother when I returned “I wasn’t done thinking yet, so I kept running.”

Saturday: 10 miles on the treadmill.  There are so many inescapable hills EVERYWHERE in Utah that I (and my Achilles’) wanted some flatter miles.  Note that our treadmill is automatically set to a 1.5 incline, which felt so amazing after the inclines I’d been running around our home.

Weekly total: 45 miles

I’m not sure how the next week will shape up. This is the first year in ages that I’ll be going out on New Year’s Eve, so I’m expecting limited running during the week!  It’s also my last week with family and friends in Utah, so I’m going to maximize my time with them.  Runs will be fit in when then can – but definitely not a priority!
