Cilantro’s Training Log – 10.6.2013

Now that posting a training log isn’t such a novelty, I’ll stop making a big deal about it.

And thank you to everyone who sent links to races that are close. I’ve decided to run every single marathon in North Dakota next year…

Don’t freak out – there are only three. I’m not setting any goals for finishing times yet (since the first one is May 10); my primary focus is building mileage while staying truly injury-free and healthy. I also have a few pounds to lose and I’ve learned the hard way that the wrong way to lose weight is to try to do it during a marathon training season. It’s far better to lose the weight before training while keeping the mileage manageable.

Despite a crazy travel week, I still managed to log some solid miles (and some solid times)!

Sunday: 5 miles, easy (9:24 splits), arm strength training

Monday: 60 minutes elliptical

Tuesday: 4 miles, quickest mile 8:56

Wednesday: Off

Thursday: 6 miles, treadmill in Seattle

Friday: 8 miles, hotel treadmill again

Saturday: 60 minutes elliptical, sightseeing around Seattle

Totals: 23 miles

Side note: I don’t know how I used to spend all of my running time on the treadmill! I’m so much faster outside, and the runs rock my world. I was definitely missing out on the mental health benefits of running by spending so much time on a treadmill!

I know everyone is saying “duh!” I’m learning here…
