Overall this was a better week of running. I’m not sure if I felt better or just allowed myself to relax about not feeling great much of the time.
10mi–Easy. First 5 with C, then solo.
8mi–First 5 with C again, then by myself. Did some strides during the last mile. I did not feel great.
8mi–First 5 with C. Felt fine, went slowly.
8mi–Hill Loop 2. Decided to run this untimed so I wouldn’t feel bad about going slow. Ended up feeling pretty good! Went hard on the hills, but pretty easy for the rest of it. Saw tons of rabbits.
5mi–With C. Planned on 6 but C was stopping at 5 so I just finished then too.
17mi–My Longest Run Ever. Woke up after a very restful sleep (first night in weeks that it hasn’t been too hot to sleep well) and had a snack. Did 6.5 or so on my own before meeting a friend back at my apartment to do 10-11 with him. Felt the best I’d felt in ages. Going this long was sort of an accident but it was totally fine and I didn’t even feel that tired until the last 20 minutes or so. This cooler weather is great.
11mi–First 5 with C then alone. Felt a bit tired from yesterday but actually still pretty good.
After feeling good on back-to-back long runs over the weekend I feel encouraged that once the weather cools down and my schedule is more conducive to sleeping and running a bit later, I will find that I have gained decent fitness over these last 5 weeks. Planning to take next week as a bit of a down week mileage-wise, and then hit mid-60s again in my final week of coaching/camp counseling.
