Marathon Week!

Early on in the race-as I can tell by my pocket full of gels!

Monday: Cross Train

1 hour elliptical

light arms, abs, legs

Tuesday: Speed

1.5 mile warm up, 4 X 400 (1:23, 1:22, 1:22, 1:21), 1.75 mile cool down

This was a nice shake out. I wish all track workouts were this short!

Wednesday: Run

4 miles (7:37)

This felt easy and I went faster than planned. My body was finally feeling more rested and recovered.

Thursday: Off running

push ups, planks

Friday: Off

Saturday: Easy Run

3 miles (8:01)

I did an easy shake out with a few strides at the end. I imagined trying to run 26.2 miles at a minute per mile faster than this pace and it seemed impossible.

Sunday: Glass City Marathon

26.2 miles (6:54)

Marathon time: 3:00:38 (a 4 minute PR!)

I was very happy with this race. It is great to know that the extra mileage paid off! My only regret is that I did not run 39 seconds faster to get in the 2’s! I was on pace but lost about 10-15 seconds per mile from mile 20. The weather was perfect! Race report to follow.

I am a dedicated runner and classical musician. I am currently chasing a sub-3 hour marathon (3:00:38 PR). I often feel like the underdog going up against "serious" runners-I took up running after college, I do not have a typical "runner's body type", and I am mostly self-coached. I travel a lot to perform with different orchestras and run when I can, where I can. I love to (over) eat and that is my number one motivation for running! Follow me as I chase my goals!
