Catnip’s (de)training log – weeks ending 12/7 and 12/14/14

I haven’t lost more than a couple days at a time due to injury in many years. I attribute a lot of my success as a runner to remaining healthy, and I attribute my health in part to taking planned breaks from running consistently. It’s not exciting, but I think it’s important to show what downtime looks like, so here we go.

Week of 12/1:

Monday: 0 miles

Tuesday: 0 running miles, quite a bit of walking in airports carrying a 20+ lb baby + trying to wrestle him on two separate flights.

Wednesday: 0 running miles, a couple miles walking with baby

Thursday: 0 running miles, minimal walking with baby

Friday: 0 running miles, lots of walking with baby at DISNEYLAND

Saturday: 0 running miles, lots of walking with baby at Disneyland

Sunday: 0 running miles, minimal walking with baby because we had a direct flight home

Week of 12/8

Monday: 0 miles, just work.

Tuesday: 0 miles, just work.

Wednesday: 0 miles, 1 hour hot yoga at 6 am.

Thursday: 0 miles

Friday: 0 miles, lots of sitting at my first day of coaching school

Saturday: 0 miles, 8+ hours of sitting at coaching school

Sunday: 0 miles, more sitting at coaching school

total for two weeks = 0 running miles, some walking with added weight, 1 hour yoga.

I'm a 20-year veteran of competitive running, USATF certified coach, mom of a toddler -- and still trying to set PRs. I write about training from 5k to marathon, motherhood and competitive running, and the elite side of the sport. The 5k is my favorite race (16:56 PR) but I've got a score to settle with the marathon.
