This will be a short one.
After feeling very discouraged the final full week in March, my last successful run was March 30: 7.7 miles @ 6:55 average with 40 minutes tempo @ 6:27 average. I had minimal PF pain, but noticed an ache in the 5th metatarsal when I began the cooldown. I interpreted this as a signal that I was probably compensating for the PF pain and risking additional injury. I hit the stop button and cried.
I wasn’t committed to being injured yet. I took seven full days off running and attempted to run on the eighth. Fail. I emailed the Glass City Marathon elite coordinator to notify him that I would be a DNS.
At this point, I embraced my non-running hobbies. I wish I’d kept a log of all the books I read during this time! I attended a few yoga classes although some poses irritated my PF. One pose that definitely felt ok was tripod headstand! I was so excited to achieve it!
I did attend the Glass City Marathon as a spectator. My two best friends from high school both ran the half and we had a great time catching up over the weekend.
