Barberry Training Log 9/24-9/30

Ahhhh… the cooler temperatures have continued this week. My larger, warmer, pregnant self is very grateful. It has made my shuffle-jog-walk routine a little bit more enjoyable. A little bit. Running continues to become more difficult. I am wrapping up week 29 and about to enter week 30. Three-quarters of the way down! I am losing my belly button. I can actually see my belly moving as baby girl moves. I would say despite all of the things I have not particularly enjoyed about being pregnant, I really do love feeling her move around and kick. That’s a pretty cool feeling. As far as exercise related conquests this week go, my Garmin strap is dunzo. I thankfully have a warranty and was able to work out a nice deal with them (it was a pretty sweet deal, not going to lie). I borrowed my husband’s watch a few times, but I also did some time without it. It was pretty nice to be able to just run by feel and not be too caught up in how much slower my pace is! Anyway, here is a rundown of the last week!

9/24 – I rested today after doing a run yesterday and this weekend’s battle with food poisoning. I felt better and still had no problems with keeping food and water down after the initial incident. I was assured that everything was fine by my OB’s office!  Between all of that and a long day at work, once I got home, I took it easy.

9/25 – It was pretty dark after I finished dinner tonight, so I decided to do my evening walk on the treadmill while my husband was out playing soccer. I was able to catch up on Monday night’s premiere of The Voice while walking 2 miles on the treadmill.

9/26 – Today’s run wasn’t the prettiest. I was able to run/walk 3 miles okay. My plan was to do 4, but around mile 2, I was experiencing some discomfort in my hips. After mile 3, I walked back one more mile to my starting point at the gym. The pain went away with walking. I was able to go to the gym and do my strength routine without any problems.

9/27 – I did a short walk at lunch just to get out and enjoy the lovely temperatures. Otherwise, I rested when I got home. We got new straps ordered for my Garmin. I constantly checked my wrist to look at the time today at work, but all that was there was a beautiful tan line. Guess I had gotten too used to it being there!

9/28- I ran before work this morning. I had time to get 2.7 miles in. I used my husband’s watch for today’s outing. It was chilly to start with (high 40’s), but glorious.

9/29 – Today, I ran without a watch! I got to run and walk as I pleased, and not get too caught up in pace. I think I went a little over 4 miles total, based on my previous experiences running on the trail. My husband had been out running a little before I started, so when he found me while he was running back, he turned around and ran the rest of my path with me. I probably still took walk breaks about every half mile or so, and had to stop and take a water/bathroom break in the middle.

Today was also a fun day, as far as personal activities go! We went to a tailgate for our alma mater’s homecoming football game with some of my college roommates and friends! Our little school has grown so much in the last few years, and it was fun to be there.

9/30 – I walked 2.15 miles around my neighborhood tonight. The new Garmin watch straps are successfully attached and all seems to be well. Apparently, I am addicted to my watch. I may have to work on that!

At the end of this week, we get to see the 3D ultrasound of our baby girl! We are excited for that! We are also going to do a nice little weekend getaway before baby, so that should be nice. October is going to be an incredibly busy month, so it will be nice to have some time alone before the madness! Have a great week everyone!
