Barberry Training Log 9/17-9/23

Another week has passed … there have been more baby bump milestones and less running going on. It was a little different week, as I had a few morning commitments that made me change my workout plans up some later in the week. I am now 28 weeks along and I feel like I look pregnant now, not chubby. I have bought some more maternity clothes in preparation for fall weather … that and I am tired of wearing the same pair of jeans all weekend. I had a little scary moment with a bout of what seemed to be food poisoning after dinner on Saturday evening. After I got it out of my system (too graphic to share details), I did feel better. I drank a lot of fluids and napped on Sunday, and have been feeling better. Baby girl has been moving around, so I think she has forgiven me for picking the wrong entrée. I ate a lot of bland food on Sunday … lots of potatoes! Again, just glad to be feeling better and have that scare out of my system. So without further ado, I present my week to you.

9/17 – The beginning of this week was extremely hot outside, with highs in the upper 80’s and low 90’s. Relief was in sight, as it was supposed to cool down at the end of the week. No workout today. I had an appointment with my OBGYN to check on the baby, and also take that wonderful glucola test. It wasn’t terrible, but the sugar in that really messed up my system later that evening! Thankfully, the test came back normal, so I do not have to do that 3 hour long test. My mom went with me to this appointment and she got to hear the baby’s heartbeat, so that was pretty exciting.

9/18 – After work, I went for a 2.5 mile walk after eating dinner. It was still warm outside and my intestines were still a little iffy after the sugar overload from yesterday.

9/19 – I got the chance to sleep in a little more today and that was nice. I got a 4 mile run (11:27 min/mi pace with walk breaks) and was able to do a strength workout, as well. I did a few less reps on some lunges (not sad about that), but was able to do most of the other moves I have been previously doing. Gotta get these muscles ready for lifting baby and bending over and all of the fun stuff heading my way!

9/20 – Today was a pretty lazy day, meaning no walk break at lunch and no walking after work. It was taco night! I spent the evening relaxing after that.

9/21 – I did not get my usual morning run in, as I had to drop my husband off at the airport. He was out of town for the weekend for a friend’s bachelor party near Glacier National Park. I am jealous … not of the party thing. I really wanna go to Glacier National Park!

9/22 – This morning I volunteered at a 5K put on by my husband’s company. And …. it was 55 degrees when I woke up! FALL WEATHER! For the first day of fall! My heart was so happy. The 5K seemed to go well, I was in charge of the food and water table. I could handle that. I did end up going for a nice longer walk of nearly 4.5 miles in the afternoon. The temperatures did not get above the mid-60’s. I really hope that it is hear to stay. This evening is the night I got sick after dinner. I went to dinner with my friends, and that was awesome! I just didn’t feel so awesome about an hour and a half after dinner. Like I said, I felt much better once it was all out of my system and with some self care.

9/23 – I was able to get in a run today since I was feeling better. I ran 4.08 miles at an 11:35 min/mi pace. My poor Garmin strap has broken, so I have put in a call to the warranty company and am waiting for it to be processed. I managed to have enough of a strap left that I could loop it through my shoelaces. I could not see what my distance/pace was, so I just went by feel and when I thought I should walk. I did also get a nice nap this afternoon.

So, I am really hoping for an uneventful week for this upcoming week! Have a great weekend, Salty Readers!
