Barberry Training Log 8/27-9/2


Hey everyone! Another week has passed and I have been experiencing more glorious changes in my body, along with trying to continue to run. I wrote last week that I had not been experiencing too many aches and pains, and then my anterior pelvis started getting a little tender. I also got the worst cramp ever in my right calf! Yikes! I was caught off guard by that one. I think I may have strained that calf, too, but it is starting to feel better. My pregnancy pillow is still a lifesaver, keeping my hips happy at night. My cats love me because I am so warm, so they want to be around me all of the time. Thus, all of the cat photos! Sorry about that gang … but they are precious!

8/27 – Rest day after work. It was a pretty slow day, so I can’t complain too much. I did not sleep too well the night before, so I was happy to come home and relax!


8/28 – Another night of poor sleep. I was so exhausted at work. I ended up having a cancellation, so I went back to a private room and took a nap. Don’t worry, I clocked out! I felt much better after that. It’s amazing how opposed to nap taking I was prior to being pregnant. I regret those thoughts. After work, I went for a walk around my neighborhood. I walked about 2.5 miles. It was humid out. It has been hot this week!


8/29 – This morning, I woke up early and ran/walked 4.25 miles at 12:10 min/mi pace with my running buddy, Danielle. It is staying dark a little longer, so our run started out before sunrise. There were a few other crazy, early AM runners out there with us. I am glad Danielle does not mind walk breaks with me! Even though we started early, it was still pretty warm and humid! I did some strength training at the Rec Center after the run for about 35 minutes, and also did a little stretching. I made sure to take a nap before lunch!


8/30 – Tonight was the last night of The Office Trivia with friends! Alas, we were not victorious, but we still had a good time!


8/31 – Another warm morning run before work. I did 3 miles at 11:08 min/mi pace with walk breaks. I made it through work and was glad for the upcoming 3 day weekend! Hooray!


9/1 – 5 miles at 11:11 min/mi pace this morning. I decided to change up my intervals a little bit. It was warmer, so I decided to take a 1 minute walk break after every half mile run, rather than a longer break at the end of each mile. It worked out pretty well, and I will probably be employing this strategy from now on. It helped my running intervals feel easier and more efficient. I also stopped for a water/potty break… gotta stay hydrated! I also stopped to chat with a friend of mine who walk on the trail, as well. Trust me, I am not minding more breaks at this time!


9/2 – Today, I took it easy and rested my tired, pregnant body. I was happy to know that I did not have to wake up early the next day!
