Another week of run/waddling complete! I’m still going! As far as this week’s baby milestones, I have really been feeling her kicking more strongly than I have before. It was finally strong enough that my husband was able to feel her kick, too. He was so excited, it was a really sweet moment. We have been doing more to prepare for her arrival, however, it feels like we will never be fully prepared! I guess this is a normal feeling for new parents. I also had to buckle down and buy maternity pants. It was time … sigh. I held off (or should I say my ego held off) as long as I could. I will keep you all updated on the freedom of movement that I will feel now that I don’t have to worry about buttons and snaps and zippers 🙂
And as for my physical activity, here it goes:
8/13 – After a long day of work, I rested when I got home. I did manage to get in a short walk during my lunch break. It was nice to get some fresh air in the middle of the day!
8/14 – I went on a walk around my neighborhood and a new nearby neighborhood development after getting home from work and eating dinner. I ended up walking a little over 2.5 miles. It was a little humid, but pretty pleasant outside. The sky was painted with lots of beautiful colors, so that was nice!
8/15 – I did a 4 mile run solo today, no running buddies. I ran a mile and then would walk for a tenth of a mile for an average pace of 10:50 min/mi. I ran down one of my favorite stretches of the trail around town, this always lifts my spirits. After running, I went over to the Rec Center and did some strength training. I did 24-30 repetitions of lunges, reverse lunges, squats, deadlifts, rows, clamshells, and some other core work. I have been enjoying these strength workouts, especially after I am done with the lunges! Also, checkout the baby bump selfie!
8/16 – No workouts today. Growing a baby is tiring. It rained heavily off and on all day! It was a good evening to relax inside.
8/17 – I woke up this morning to thunder and lightning and heavy rain. Normally, I would not be deterred by rain, but I am not crazy enough to run out in the lightning! I opted to walk on our treadmill inside instead. I guess I could have run on it, but I was feeling stubborn about being on a treadmill, apparently. I walked 2.1 miles, watching some “World of Dance” while doing so. Not a bad morning workout.
8/18 – My husband and I participated in a local 5K put on by a brewery in Speedway (near the Indianapolis Motor Speedway track). I strapped on my pelvic belt, prayed that my pre-run potty would be enough to keep my bladder happy, and ran the streets of Speedway with my hubby. I did not do too bad for a pregnant lady. I took 2 short walk breaks, and we finished our 5K at a pace of 10:13 min/mi. My husband slowed down and kept me company the whole time, but as we approached the tape, he thought it would be hilarious to “lean in” over the finish line to prove that he beat me. He’s a goofball! It was a really fun run, plus you got either a finisher beer or frozen yogurt at the finish. Obviously, I had to go with the frozen yogurt, but honestly, I would have done the frozen yogurt anyway! I went for the chocolate froyo with oreos, chocolate chips, and chocolate sprinkles. I guess the baby wanted chocolate 😉
8/19 – I did a prenatal yoga video for about 40 minutes today. I am definitely feeling less mobile during any kind of yoga practice. I still love final relaxation, nothing has changed that feeling!
Still able to run about 90% of my runs at this time, which makes me feel pretty good. I am getting deeper into this second trimester. My big goal was just to get through this trimester still running, so I would say so far, so good. Now, it is time to put on my maternity pants and face the week ahead. Have a great week, everyone!
