Happy Spring! Except it’s not spring here, Friday it was 0 degrees F with the windchill and it snowed Friday night. What is wrong with this place?
Here’s the deal. So I didn’t post a training log for two weeks ago, but while I would love to post a two-week training log here, I don’t track my runs any more in any way except for SR training logs (crazy, right)? Since I can’t exactly remember what I did, those are now lost runs. As are all runs for the past 8 months. Sorry, but I’m not sorry. Sort of like ditching the fitness capabilities of my Apple Watch, I am no longer tied to numbers. However, I do still use my Ambit to track mileage and pace, so you can trust those as long as I report within one-ish week of them happening.
So, here are the runs for my last week.
Saturday: 14 miles, 9-9:30 pace (around Budapest before returning to my hotel room to find that my debit card had been stolen and used in a convenience store in NYC which then cued three+ hours on the phone with Chase, yay).
Sunday: Crossfit “Murph” workout (1 mile as fast as I can, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, followed up 1 mile as fast I could). The fist mile was in 7 mn, and I divided modified pull-ups, push-ups, and air squats into 10-20-30 until I was done. My final mile was in 8 minutes. This was the most fun I’ve ever had in a workout and I felt awesome until 30 minutes later when I wanted to pass out.
Monday: Rest day, but I walked 7+ miles around BP.
Tuesday: 8 miles, easy (around 9 mn pace, some were at 8:30 until I made myself slow down), CrossFit in the afternoon (15 air squats, 15 sit-ups, 10 push-ups, 10 ring rows, 5 burpees, three rounds for time (RFT)).
Wednesday: 5 miles in the morning, tempo (8 mn average pace), 5 walked hills in the afternoon. I did these on the treadmill carrying 10 pound weights which is awesome and hard.
Thursday: Rest, flying from BP back to the GFK.
Friday: 6 miles easy, around 9:30 pace on the treadmill. Crossfit in the afternoon (10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-1 dumbell thrusters, kettlebells swings).
Saturday: 9 miles. This was supposed to be 18 miles according to the training plan I was following, but it was 0 degrees outside and I like my nose (frostbite doesn’t). I just couldn’t do them on the ‘mill and this run actually made me re-think my training plan for Burning River. I can’t do the hours of mindless running any more. I’ll be announcing what I’m going to do here soon. Crossfit in the afternoon. 9 V-ups, 12-kettlebell deadlifts, 15 push-ups, as many rounds as possible (AMRAP) 10 mn.
And that was my week. Today is Sunday, and I don’t think I can face the treadmill today, so I might just take a rest day. Frankly, with the all of the stress worrying about my upcoming defense, it might be exactly what I need. In contrast, running is how I deal with stress, so maybe I should run? The jury is out. I’ll let you know next week what I decided. On the positive side, I’m getting better at taking rest days which might mean something positive for my long-term running?
Maybe, but also maybe not. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see.
