Vanilla’s Training Log 7-19-14

Happy Summer!  Seems like the weeks are flying by.  I’m starting to get back on track with training and looking forward to the weeks ahead!

7/13:  Boulder Peak Triathlon (Olympic Distance).  Swim 1,500m; Bike 26+; Run 10K.  Total time:  2:49 and 20th in my age group.  These women are fast on the bike!  The race was fun, and I did better than expected.  A 2 minute swim PR and I ran pretty consistent:  7:32/7:34/7:53–uphill/7:39/7:37/7:36.  Ran just about the same time as BolderBoulder without having any type of meltdown during the race.

7/14:  Super easy run of 3.3 miles in 31 minutes.  Easy lift in the evening.

7/15:  24 miles on the bike in the morning;  4.5 miles @ 35:19 in the evening.

7/16:  Workout!  8×2′ with no more than 90″ rest.  My turnover felt great, and I ran a total of 6 miles in just under 43 minutes.  Weights in the evening with a 1,650m swim.  Actually did some swim intervals!

7/17:  Not surprising—I was tired in the morning, so I slept in, which was wonderful.  Managed a light weight workout in the evening followed by 4.5 miles in 35:11.

7/18:  Workout–again!  5×5 minutes with 2 minutes in between.  With the warm-up and cool-down, I got in 8.3 miles in an hour.  Headed out in the evening for a 10 mile time trial on the bike.  Ended up riding 10 at an average of 21.2.  Total ride of 14 miles.

7/19:  40 mile ride followed by a 20 minute run.  This was definitely my OCD day since I went to the gym later to lift and swim with my husband.  (I was tired)!

Weekly Totals:

Running:  35.2

Biking:  114

Swim:  2.6

Weight Training:  > 2 hours
