Happy holidays, Salties! It’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted a training log. Rather than write a long novel, here’s a quick recap of the past few weeks: finally put my bike back together only to realize my shifter got damaged, so it went to the doctor, went to KC for Thanksgiving and won first master in the local Turkey Trot in 20:49–fastest in over 2 years, caught a nasty cold that forced me to cut back last week, and I went cross-country skiing for the very first time!
So… here goes my week…
12/7: Longest run in 2 weeks. 7 miles. My Garmin died at mile 1, so I had to rely on just knowing the miles along my familiar route. I definitely need to start putting in the miles again! Later in the day, I tagged along with my husband to the gym. He swam, and I lifted.
12/8: Finally dusted off the trainer and hooked up my road bike for a 30 minute spin. It had been 4 weeks since I was on a bike, and it was obvious! Time to get back in the saddle–literally! 3.85 miles in 30 minutes in the evening after doing some Christmas errands.
12/9: 5 miles in 36:18 (including quarters x 6). 3.5 miles easy in the afternoon back to work after dropping off my dog. First run double in a long time!
12/10: 30 mins of weights followed by 30 minutes spinning. 1,600m swim in the evening–longest swim in over a month.
12/11: 4 miles @ 29:00 with 2 @ 13:01. This was much tougher than I thought it would be. I really struggled to get out of bed in the morning and get this done. Was pretty tired throughout the day.
12/12: 1,750m swim before work. 250m pool running. I’m not injured, but I’ve decided to add a few laps of pool running to help with core strength and arm endurance. In the afternoon, I went for a 4.5 mile run/hike up a new trail with some co-workers. Some beautiful views when we reached the top, and I didn’t have my phone with me!
12/13: Procrastinated for most of the morning, but I finally got out around 9:30 for a super easy run of 6.15 miles. The first 2 miles were on trail, and the rest on roads. Total time: 51:13, and I ended the run in short-sleeves and no gloves (even though it was only 45, the sun was intense)! Lifted 45 minutes in the evening.

Swimming: 2.08 miles
Weights: 2 hours
