5 Things Cardi B Taught Me About Running

5 Things Cardi B Taught Me About Running

Bergamot Posted by Bergamot on May 18, 2018 1 Comment

Cardi B? On a running blog? Yep, you read that right. The newly-minted rap queen does run this sh*t like cardio after all.

Cardi B’s success story is famous to her followers. She started her career as a stripper to make ends meet, and ended up becoming successful enough at that to support herself while investing in her true passion: music.

5 Things Lady Gaga Taught Me About Running

5 Things Lady Gaga Taught Me About Running

Ladi Gaga standing with me on the road.

Despite all that unsightly flab poking out over her waistband, by overwhelming consensus Lady Gaga’s Super Bowl halftime performance was AH-MA-ZING, a feather in the spangled lucite pointy cap on top of her decade-long career. Stefani Germanotta has entertained us with strong, powerful lyrics, excellent dance beats,  mesmerizing and thought-provoking costumes, all while standing up for the LGBTQ community and sexual assault survivors. 5 Things Bob Dylan Can Teach Us About Running

5 Things Bob Dylan Can Teach Us About Running

Zest Posted by Zest on October 21, 2016 5 Comments

fri5Last week, the Nobel Committee announced that Bob Dylan won the Nobel Prize in Literature “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition.” Although this announcement provoked substantial controversy, I was thrilled. Here are just a few of my favorite pieces of sage running advice, a la Dylan.

5 Reasons You Should Hire Nicki Minaj as Your Running Coach

5 Reasons You Should Hire Nicki Minaj as Your Running Coach

Bergamot Posted by Bergamot on January 22, 2016 4 Comments

imageI have developed a bit of an obsession with my girl Nicki, one that causes me to refer to her on a first-name basis. I also might have sent my company a Minaj-themed Christmas card. I have a Nicki Minaj Pandora station tailored specifically for workouts, and her songs have pushed me through training runs, tough, hot halves, and finally my first full marathon! She is my muse.

In all seriousness, I admire Nicki because she does her own thing and simply does not give a sh*t. Her Instagrams are real and hilarious, she shatters the patriarchy with her unapologetic vulgarity, and most importantly, her words have become my running anthems, even when they have nothing to do with running at all!

You know what kind of people motivate runners to push past barriers and achieve breakthrough performances? Coaches. The logic is clear: Nicki Minaj would be the best running coach ever.
