Happy Monday Everyone! Hope you all had a running and rest-filled weekend ๐
Here’s what I did last week…
Memorial Day Monday:ย Made the mistake of sleeping in and procrastinating for a few hours, so I ended up starting my run at noon. It was pretty hot but once Iย stopped feeling grumpy about my poor choices and just got moving, I actually had a good time and knocked out 11 miles. 3 mile double in the evening with some strides.
Tuesday: 4 miles in the morning/workout in the evening. My coach was away all of the previous week so he gave me tempo runs for workouts because I can’t really manage doing hard track sessions by myself. Needless to say, being back on the track today was a rude awakening. Awoke to a text from him that just said “be ready for a good session.” That immediately struck fear in my heart because I knew that “good” did not mean good at all haha. Ended up doing 400 (68), 800 (2:24), mile (5:28), mile (5:35), K(3:17) rest/have a good cry. Then, mile (5:38), K(3:13), 400(71). Overall it wasn’t too crazy because the miles at threshold gave me a breather between the fast (for me) stuff. Anything 800 and below freaks me out a little. Gotta work on getting more comfortable with that.
Did core and abs afterwards.
Wednesday: 4 miles in the morning/9 miles in the evening

Thursday: 4 miles ย in the morning/workout in the evening. 1 mile at tempo pace on the track to get a feel for what my pace should be, then headed off the track for a 3 mile tempo. Finished up with 4×300 hill sprints to practice closing with good form. Finished up with core and abs.
Friday: Baby shakeout before work then 10 miles in the evening.
Saturday: Long run
Sunday: 5.5 mile shuffle
Total: 90
HAHA I love your Tuesday workout description. Agreed that coach and I don’t always agree on what “fun” means. Also agreed on the come-to-Jesus talks sometimes required mid-workout. Great week! What’s on your fall schedule?
I have no idea what I’m doing for the fall but I do know the following 2 things for sure: there will be a beer mile and there will be a marathon. I’ll figure out everything else later haha
