Salty’s Weekly Training Log

I have been seeing a fabulous ART practictioner, Tim Keyes who’s been working on my butt, hip and back issues since my New Year’s Eve injury. He advised me to take about a week off of running and said I could start back this Monday. I was very hopeful that I would feel really good, but alas everything hurt again within minutes of starting back up. Being stubborn and a little in denial, I soldiered on and upped my miles everyday until my follow-up appointment on Thursday. It didn’t help matters that my son had a bad cold

all week so I couldn’t go to the gym to cross-train. It’s hard to not run when there are no other options for the endorphins fix!

At the appointment, Dr. Keyes became concerned that my problems were related to sciatica and the muscles in my hip, butt and hammies compensating for a mild bulging disk issue. He had me receive a spine treatment as a diagnostic measure, but when all was said and done I think this just irritated my back and my back has been in pain on and off all weekend.ย  Nevertheless, I managed 26.5 miles for the week.

Monday: 4 miles with no watch outside.

Tuesday: 5 miles on the treadmill averaging around 9:30 pace.

Wednesday: 6 miles on the treadmill averaging around 9:20 pace.

Thursday: off

Friday: 4 miles outside with no watch.

Saturday: 7.5 in a full on blizzard tromping through the soft snow with my team!

Sunday: off
