Salty’s Training Log – 9.16.12

29 weeks! I’m slowing down all around. Feeling more waddly and getting more braxton-hicks contractions when doing things like the dishes and working on the computer – they’re not just isolated to running any more. I had hopefully my last heart appointment before the baby comes, so it’s nice to have that checked off my to-do list, but after Wednesday I will have to start going every two weeks to the midwife instead of every month so the appointments will still keep me busy.

In other news my son starts preschool tomorrow. It’s his first day of school, ever! He’s all keyed up about it and I’m a bit nervous about it. I’ve been feeling very hesitant to take on any new responsibilities or make commitments to go places or do things lately. I am nervous about how school will go for my son, but I think I’m most nervous about having to drag my sorry tired self out of the house with my two little ones so early on Mondays and Tuesdays! I’m sure I’ll cope. And the good news is that this means on Mondays and Tuesdays I get to run with the single stroller! Oh yeah!

Salty & Pepper reunited and it felt so good! After not seeing each other in over two months (!) I finally hosted Pepper and her BF for dinner on Saturday. We cooked up some yummies from my husband’s garden and had a blast. I missed her!

Between preschool meetings, doctor’s appointments and the farmers market I was happy to run 4 days this week and super stoked I managed 30 miles.

Mon: off to recover from the half marathon.

Tue: 5 crammed in after a preschool meeting. Easy pushing the kids with Ginger’s BF James.

Wed: 7 watchless miles alone (with my phone on the populated bike path at the park!)

Thu: 7 around 9:25 pace pushing the stroller in the morning with my friend Joanne. Tired from running the ย evening before, but went pretty well!

Fri: off for heart appointment.

Sat: off for farmers market.

Sun: 11 averaging 9:13. Ran 7 with my friend Michelle. Last mile was a blazin’ 8:56, but otherwise this was a remarkably even paced run.

Total: 30

Salty Running boss and mother of 3 little ones with PRs of 3:10:15 (26.2), 1:25:59 (13.1) and 18:15 (5k). I love to write about running culture, mental training, and fitting in a serious running habit with the rest of a busy life.
