This was my last week of doing what I want before I go back on my coach’s program. And lucky for me, I finally felt recovered from the insane sleep deprivation a couple of weeks ago and managed a solid week. And that’s despite Cinnamon and some of my other East Coast relatives coming into town for a family reunion.
I did get two runs in with my sister. She took me on a tour of her high school campus. We ran parts of the (muddy) cross country course and then got familiar with the track while she did her workout. I ran 16 laps in lane 8 going the opposite direction. Exciting! We also ran a nice easy run the day after in my neighborhood. Both runs were later in the morning and hot and soupy. One of the downsides of hardcore family socializing is the sleep deprivation. I just couldn’t pry myself out of bed to run early even with the crappo hot nasty weather. Oh well. Makes up for all those relatively cool dry treadmill runs, I guess!
I also managed to squeeze in a 14 miler for the first time in three weeks. I ran the whole thing easy and felt good. I find that running a long run really easy feels so good. I don’t feel beat up and exhausted the rest of the day and I feel very little heaviness the day after. We’ll see what coach has in store for my long runs, but if it’s up to me I’ll keep them easy!
Mon: easy 5 on the treadmill during kids’ swim classes
Tue: 4 easy in the a.m. outside and then 9.25 with track (3 miles of jog curves and stride straights. Ran 20 – 21 for all 100s.)
Wed: 7 easy with no watch – partly on NDCL xc course and partly on track while my sister did a workout.
Thu: 6 easy outside no watch
Fri: 9 with 5 mile tempoish (6:55) (on the treadmill)
Sat: off (family reunion craziness)
Sun: 14.1 easy, middle 6 with Pepper (averaged 8:06)
