Salty’s Training Log – 6.10.12

15 weeks and finally feeling good! I’ve run every day so far in June. I’m hoping to keep the streak going for as long as I can. Have a busy week ahead so fingers crossed I find the time to sneak in a few miles each day. I managed to have such a great week mostly because of Cinnamon who convinced me I was making excuses for not running as much as I would like. Just because I’m pregnant does not mean I have to always put my running on the back-burner. I can keep it a priority just as I usually do and always within reason, of course!

So on Monday I set the tone for the week by going grocery shopping early enough that we could come home, unload the car, pack a lunch head out for a lunchtime ride. I served the kids raspberries and PB&J in the stroller while I ran 6 on a day I had previously resigned to make on off day.

The other big change this week was that our sitter came on Wednesday evening instead of Tuesday. That means no more track workouts, which bums me out a little bit just because I got to spend time with so many of my friends I don’t otherwise get to see very often. However, I made a date with a great friend and training partner, Barb and we rolled out 10-plus on a gorgeous evening. Perfection!

A little impromptu cross-country running for my 2 after our Thursday run.

Mon: 6 with the stroller and an impromptu 2.25 almost-tempo ridiculously trying to prevent someone from passing me!

Tue: 6.2 averaging 8:38 on the treadmill at the Y.

Wed: 10.1 averaging 8:36 with Barb on roads.

Thu: 4.15 in the sand pushing the stroller.

Fri: 5 with friend Bridget pushing the strollers.

Sat: 7 starting after 10am on a HOT day with little shade. Thank goodness for Pepper’s handheld and a breeze!

Sun: 12 awesome miles on the towpath with friends Michelle, Marlene and Jen. Thanks ladies! Great end to a great running week!

Total: 50.35!

Topped off today’s run with a giant bowl of cherries when I got home. I can’t believe I spent $11 for a bag of cherries, but gotta say they’re so good it might have been worth it!

Salty Running boss and mother of 3 little ones with PRs of 3:10:15 (26.2), 1:25:59 (13.1) and 18:15 (5k). I love to write about running culture, mental training, and fitting in a serious running habit with the rest of a busy life.
