Salty Training Log – 11.23.14

Despite an early winter and a super busy week I finally broke through the 70 mile barrier. Woohoo! I am getting really excited about training and am starting to feel fit again. Time to start looking at spring races.

In life news, my oldest turned 6 on Friday and my youngest turns 2 next week. We celebrated this weekend with a little presents, cake and ice cream. But later this week my son and I are going to continue the celebration with Auntie Cinnamon in New York City! I’m not expected to have the best training week this week, but I’m ok with that. I’ve put in 11 solid weeks now, so one slightly down week won’t hurt and might even help!

Mon: 6 early and easy on the basement treadmill. Not a fan of early winter!

Tue: 10 with track. Met my friends Marisa and Mel and ran in the bitter cold to the local university indoor track for a ladder. 400, 800, 1200, 1600, 1200, 800, 400 with half time rest. Ran 86, 2:55, 4:26, 5:58, 4:27, 2:56, 83. Felt good, but it’s really hard to get into a speedy rhythm with all those turns on a 200m track!

Wed: a.m. 5.5 on the boring tm. Later a.m. 4.5 on the y’s slightly more exciting tm followed by strength class.

Thu: a.m. 8 outside early. Cold, but so much better than the basement! P.m. 3.5 easy on the basement tm.

Fri: 11.5 with 7 mile tempo on the y tm. Really prefer not tempoing on the mill, but with time constraints did not have a choice this week. Ran 3@6:40, 6:36, 6:31, 6:28, 6:17

Sat: 6 early and easy outside. Warmer!

Sun: 15 averaging 7:37. Had to go early and alone. Was really tired after party prepping all day the day before. Had a very slow start, but then things started clicking halfway. Finished out in 6:46. Wooo!

Total: 70!
