Pimento’s Training Log 12.26.15

FullSizeRender (26)Sunday 12/20 Rest Day. Headed up into the Cascades for three days of snowy family time at Odell Lake. As always it was a bit crazy getting packed and out the door, but once on the road we all exhaled and went into vacation-mode.

Monday: 20-minute snowshoe. My husband took our 10-year-old snowboarding so my sister, Alora, and I hung out back at the cabin and lodge. Three-plus feet of snow nixed any ideas I had to go on trail-runs. I played a lot of Scrabble (and dominated) then went on a 20-minute snowshoe with my husband when he got back.

IMG_0531Tuesday: 30-minute snowshoe with Alora on my back. Snowshoeing in three-feet of powder with about 40-pounds on your back is hard. I’ll leave it at that. It is our five-year anniversary, so we tromped to the lodge for wine and dessert and, while there, a storm hit. Our path was obliterated, so we slogged to our cabin through hip-high drifts. The wine warmed me from the inside and I laughed the whole walk back.

Wednesday: 5 miles on the treadmill. (8:00 pace) Got home, unpacked and jumped on the dreadmill for a couple of episodes of “Curb Your Enthusiasm.” Got off to find Alora melting down as her vacation hangover hit full-force. Good times.

Mermaid tights!

Thursday: 6 miles. (7:54 pace) Met up with friends for our Christmas Eve run, followed by mimosas in the parking lot. Always an outstanding way to start the holiday. I wore my new mermaid tights. At the grocery store afterward, an old lady’s compliment, “OOOHHHH, my!!! Those are CUTE!” made my day.

Friday: 6 miles. (8:08 pace) Woke up from my post present-opening nap with eight miles on my mind, but Scout refused to leave my side. Instead, for his Christmas present, I took him for his first run in well over a week. His doggie-joy made up for the miles I skipped.

Saturday: 14.26 miles. (8:06 pace) Met up with a couple of running friends for a run around the lake. Discussed next week’s workouts and a host of What’s talked about on the run, stays on the run topics.

Total: 31.26 miles for a holiday down-week!

I'm an elementary P.E. teacher with a long-term, ongoing marathon addiction. The next big goal? Keeping up my BQ streak while aiming for a 3:10! I write about the not-so-glamorous side of running and fitting in serious training with a family while staying sane(ish).
