Salties! These past few weeks have consisted of mainly easy running as I work to re-establish an aerobic base. Thankfully a couple of months of diligent pool running haven’t left me feeling like I am starting from square one, BUT have certainly lost a lot in the strength and endurance department 🙁 Plus the insane humidity in our part of the country isn’t exactly doing me any favors either!
I feel lazy not running a lot and I do have hopes of a Fall marathon. I get bored running easy, low mileage. BUT it’s better than nothing + I’ve had zero shin pain so that’s providing motivation enough to keep this come back cautious and contained.
A little late to the party, but I would to negligent not to mention the awesomeness that was Salty Camp. What a wonderful couple of days! It was so great to meet everyone in person and to spend time geeking out over running related things.
Here’s a summary of the past few weeks. Unfortunately, the pool I usually run in is closed for a couple of weeks for annual maintenance so cross training will be largely absent until the beginning of the Fall semester.
25 July – 31 July
Mon – (am) 30mins easy running.
(pm) Strength & 45 min recovery pool run.
Tues – 45 mins @ 8min
Wed – (am) 2mile warm up, 4 x 1 min @ 6min pace w/ 2min jog between. 3 min rest. 4 x 1 min @ 6min pace w/ 2min jog between. 2 mile cool down.
(pm) Went to a Solidcore class with a friend. Highly recommend, it was TOUGH! Lots of slow controlled repetitions to really work deep into muscles, even muscles you didn’t know you had.
Thurs – Drove to Salty Camp. 30min shake out with Salty & Pimento
Fri – 50mins with Pimento and Oregano. Insanely sore from Solidcore!
Sat – 3 mile warm up, 8 x 1:30 @ 6min pace w/ 1min jog between. 2.5 mile cool down.
Sun – I desperately wanted to run with the Salties BUT I knew that going for a seven-day string this early was far from a good idea.
1 August – 7 August
Mon – A very humid 70mins … still sore from Solidcore – I really got my $$ worth from that class!
Tues – 60mins easy with friend around the DC mall
Wed – (am) 2 mile warm up, 4 x 1min hard/2min easy. 8 x hill sprints with 1min recovery, 4 x 1min hard/2min easy, 2 mile cool down.
(pm) 2 miles super easy + strength training with guest gym appearance from Mr. Pesto
Thurs – 45 mins easy
Fri – OFF
Sat – 2 mile warm up. 6 x 2mins @ 6min pace. 2 mile cool down. Strength training. I was very motivated to get this knocked out early so that we could get on the road to a good friends wedding.
Sun – (am) 55 min post over indulgence run (wedding the night prior), my head hurt.
(pm) Yoga class – a good friend taught her first full class! Was so much fun to be there + she was AWESOME!
