A very quick reprieve from the insanity that is the end of the semester. I have exams to write, several hundred assignments to grade, 25+ pages to write … but for now, that can all wait 🙂
It feels good to be getting back into some milage after recouping from the marathon. Three holiday parties and a late hockey game this week added an extra level to training – in that running hungover really isn’t ideal. Here in the Pesto household we are embracing the downtime and festivities. As yet there is nothing major on the Spring calendar. I should however get a little more serious about this in the near future.
Here is the week that was:
Monday: (am) 60mins, 8miles.
(pm) Pool run, 40mins.
Tuesday: (am) Workout. 2mile warmup. 3x (6x2mins @ 5:45-6min pace with 30sec jog) 3min walk break between sets. 2 mile cool down. I should have taken notes in the morning as now I don’t really remember anything about it. I think it went by quickly?!
(pm) Peripheral heart rate lift. This was the first time I’ve done this routine. It took about 45-50mins and was great as it didn’t require a whole lot of ‘stuff’. Four groups of exercises, each 5x10reps each.
Wednesday: (am) Easy 6mi run along canal with friend in DC. Followed by a delicious breakfast at Baked & Wired. Certainly some of the best coffee and baked goodies in town!
Thursday: (pm) 50mins @ 7:30. I was scheduled to take today off but I had a strange desire to run in the evening (which NEVER happens) so I just went with it. I suspect procrastination from finals might have been the suspect.
Friday: (am) Easy 8miles with a friend from home. Super cold and windy. Gross.
(pm) PT. One hour of manual adjustments, massage and dry needles. Glorious.
Saturday: (noonish) 8miles @ 7:15 with Mr. Pesto on the bike. Yes! He got a bike, which I am insanely excited about. Problem is it’s really too chilly for him to be out there sherpa-ing me around. We will pick this back up in earnest once it warms up. He does love me – but not enough to get frostbite!
Sunday: (am) Workout. 3mile warmup. 7x5mins @ 5:50-6min pace with 90sec jog. 2mile cool down. Felt surprisingly smooth and relaxed. Ran with another friend, misery loves company, right?!
(am) Peripheral HR lift, same as Tuesday
Total miles: 60
Pool run: 40mins (pool was closed Thursday-Sunday for a swim meet – boo)
Strength/lift: 2 sessions
A very social week of running! Onwards!
