I am pleased to report that this week I got back on track with my training. My coach advised me to do whatever I needed to this week to get healthy again, so I was prepared to take some more time off if need be. Fortunately, however, I felt great all week and was able to put in all the training time scheduled. I am finally healing up from my way over-worn shoes and am ready to get back on the comeback trail. I am up a couple of pounds and feeling a bit out of shape, but nothing hurts. So it is time to move full steam ahead!
Monday was a rest day, so I just did my arm weights and core work.
Tuesday I ran 5 miles easy (8:58) in the morning. It was a nice way to start the day, which marked my 13th wedding anniversary!
Wednesday morning it was super dark and slippery. However, I was not yet ready to jump on the treadmill for the season and I knew we were slated for a blizzard on Thursday. So I hit the roads! I ran slow and focused on running super light on my feet (instead of slipping all over). Other than the icy roads, it was a beautiful morning. 6.4 miles (9:29 pace).
Thursday the blizzard came. We got 20 inches of snow and 35-45 mile per hour winds. I just couldn’t bring myself to get on the treadmill, so I took a rest day and decided to make up the lost time over the weekend.
Friday I was itching to get out to run. It was beautiful running in all the snow, but the roads were an absolute mess. 6.7 miles (9:04).
Saturday I finally gave in and ran on the treadmill. The good news is that it wasn’t bad at all. I watched the first 3 episodes of Cheers (including the pilot) and laughed my way through 8.5 miles (8:47). Thank you Netflix.
Sunday I hit the treadmill again for some more Cheers. :) It was hard to get going, but I ended up running a little more than 10 minutes more than planned. 8 miles (8:49).
Total: 5 hours and change. 34.6 miles.
I am looking forward to getting some extra miles in over the holidays!
