Mint’s Training Log – 11.25.12

Cheers to being back in training mode!

After a couple of slow weeks, this week I started ramping up in the right direction.  It helped to have a few days off for the holidays.  How great to be able to relax and have a little more time to get those runs in?

Monday is usually a rest day for me.  But rather than resting, I got up bright and early (4:50 am) and logged a nice 45 minute run.  It was crisp, cool and dark.  I got in just over 5 miles (8:52 pace).

Tuesday was my rest day, so I did arm weights and some core work.

Wednesday I ran with my son after work.  We only did 2 miles easy (9:11 pace).  The purpose was to get a little shake-out in before his 10k race in the morning.  He also got to try out his fancy new running kicks.  It is crazy because we are now officially the same running shoe size!

Thursday was the Berbee Derby 10k.  The whole family ran it.  I ran the 10k with my son in 52:47 (8:30 pace).  Race report here.  It was an amazingly beautiful day and we hit almost 60 degrees!

Friday the weather changed dramatically.  It was cold and super windy (“feels like 15 degrees”).  It took me a while to get motivated to get out the door, but once I did, I had a great run.  I ran 7.2 miles (8:40 pace).

Saturday it was chilly again, but actually great to run in.  I put in 9 miles (8:49 pace).

Sunday I had to get some work done in the morning.  Once I got out it was 40 degrees and I ended up being a bit overdressed.  I guess it takes a while to get back into the swing of winter running!  7.5 milles (8:45 pace).

Total: 37 miles





Mindi is a serial marathoner. She is a private practice attorney, wife and mom of two awesome (and super fast) boys, ages 12 and 14. She coaches Girls on the Run and is a big advocate of youth running.
