Happy New Year!

I am looking forward to having a great year of running after so many setbacks in 2013.  I hope you all have a great running year as well!

This week was a little tricky with the New Year and our travel plans, but I was able to get some decent mileage in.

Monday is my rest day.

Tuesday I planned to get up early to log some miles on the treadmill before work.  Unfortunately I woke up in the middle of the night with a wicked head cold.  I decided the better plan of action would be to get some rest rather than pushing it too hard before our big trip.   I did do my PT exercises and arm weights.

Wednesday was New Years Day!  I played with family on New Year’s Eve until the wee hours (2 am), but we were reasonably well behaved and I felt good.  I was going to run around 10 miles as my long run for the week, but then I thought it would be fun to run 14 to ring in 2014 (treadmill; 9:04 pace); I also did pilates.

Thursday I needed to run after work, which is always hard for me.  I got it done though – 7 miles; treadmill; 8:49 average pace.  I ran 8:57 pace most of the time, but picked it up for some short tempo intervals (7:30) near the end.

Friday I woke up early and essentially repeated my workout from the night before.  7 miles; treadmill; 8:57 pace.

Saturday was our travel day!  We were up at 5 am to fly out to L.A.  It was a long travel day, but awesome to arrive to sunshine and 75 degrees after being stuck in cold and freezing temps for weeks!

Sunday my husband and I did a nice easy run in Burbank.  4 miles; 9:14 pace.  Later in the day we went hiking at Wildwood Canyon State Park.  Very fun!

Total: 32 miles.

Now we are off to the National Championship football game in Pasadena.  GO NOLES!
