Hi Salty Runners! I hope you all had a great week of training. This week marked Week 6 of my 20 week training plan for the Hamilton Marathon. In terms of mileage, I saw my first looonggg run this week, with my first 36K training run in the bank. This training cycle, I’ve decided to run a few more longer long runs than in the past. The weather has been quite humid, so I am looking forward to reaping the benefits of training in the heat come fall.
Monday – 12K @ 5:42 in the morning. HIIT class in the evening (45 minutes).
Tuesday – 17.42K with 4 x 1 hilly mile loops (6:55, 7:01, 6:50, 6:45) + warm-up and cool-down. As I mentioned, I run on Tuesdays and Thursdays with the OAC Racing Team. Tuesdays in the summer we meet at a nearby park and run a timed hilly mile loops. It was a cooler night and I managed to squeak out 4 loops rather than my usual 3.
Wednesday – 12K @ 5:33. Beautiful morning run around the Rideau Canal.
Thursday – 12K @ 4:49 with 4 x (3 x 400) + warm-up and cool-down. My 400s looked like this: (1:36 1:33 1:37) (1:35 1:27 1:29) (1:31 1:36 1:30) (1:39 1:30 1:34). I normally run with the team on the track on Thursdays, but due to a commitment in the evening I completed this workout by myself along the Canal.
Friday – OFF.
Saturday – 36K @ 5:10. I started before 7:00 to beat the heat. 90% humidity at the time I left the house (it felt like 100%, if there’s any difference). This run was a huge confidence boost.
Sunday – REST.
15 weeks until the Hamilton Road 2 Hope Marathon!
