Let’s start with the end of year total!
2014 total run miles: 2785 miles.
That’s short of the 3000 mile target, but who cares? That’s damn impressive. I think that is higher than odometer total on my bike at the end of 2013. In the mean time, however, my bike has been pouting in the garage with only about 300 miles on it.
SERC talked me out of racing at Miami. I’m going to have to make a final decision tomorrow, but they successfully talked me out of it.
Who’s SREC? The Southeast Running Club. Salty thinks it is a perfect match. Probably. This will be central to the topics of some writing yet to come.
Week in Review
Monday: First flat run in a while. 10.1 miles on Tortola along Sir Fransis Drake Channel at sunrise. 7:31/mi.
Tuesday: missed day. I do care enough to make it work, but this was an example of a day when I just couldn’t make it work. I woke up on a mooring ball at 5am in front of an island with no roads and made it home at midnight. First missed day in about, I don’t know, 8 or 9 weeks.
Wednesday: I met SERC for the new year eve run and breakfast. It was a new year’s miracle that I made it, though I ran a reduced 9.3 miles compared to the run’s planned course. I’m blaming my late start on insomnia, getting home at midnight, and the 18-degree beautiful weather.
Thursday: Inside for new years. 11mi, 7:52/mi
Friday Treadmill intervals. I really like treadmill intervals. This week it was
4x 5min@(10.2mph, 1.5%), 2:30 recoveries, +Warmup and cooldown
The interval part of the workout takes about 30 minutes total. With warmup, cooldown, and easy miles about an hour. 8.7 mi total today.
Saturday: Inside with three episodes of Calcification. 10 miles at 7.6mph after warmup
Sunday: When it finally stopped raining, we had a beautiful day. Mid 40’s. Short lived though. Now it’s snowing. 10.6mi, 7:19/mi
Week total: about 60 miles.
