This week was all about going outside of my comfort zone. Not necessarily in miles run. Not necessarily in pushing my pace or getting on the track to do intervals. Rather, to begin making running more ‘social’ again and check in on the reality of why I am doing it. I have to be honest with myself and make sure I’m not becoming a running machine simply to maintain a certain shape or certain number on the scale, because of my past issues. So, this week, I decided to reach out to a group called Columbus Moms Run This Town and find a few group runs to join! After all, running is my ‘me’ time and I should be able to make it a social outing (since these are few and far between now with a 2 month old), while also being real with myself and making sure I’m continuing to run for the right reasons, not the eating disorder ones. More on this soon with an upcoming post!
Here’s what my week shaped up to:
Monday 8.18 – Just short of 6 miles in early AM
Tuesday 8.19 – 3.5 miles with Otto the pup! He was really pushing the pace and needed it!
Wednesday 8.20- 3.5 miles
Thursday 8.21 – 4 miles, trying out a new route in the neighborhood & 15 minutes of P90X ab ripper
Friday 8.22 – Met up with Allison from Moms Run This Town Group at 4:45 a.m.! We had a blast (minus the humidity, puddles and smell of skunk) and lots in common; plan to meet up weekly!
Saturday 8.23 – 4 humid, soggy miles
Sunday 8.24 – 9.5 miles. I meant to do 6 but got a little lost and ended up doing way more than intended. It was a good boost of confidence, though, that I can do this Columbus Half in October! I maintained an 8:23 pace.
